Madison Roths

Bio:

Madison Roths, soprano, is a first year DMA student at Florida State University where she studies with David Okerlund. A Kansas native relocated to Florida, Madison has been praised for her “wonderful combination of exquisite technique and expression,” and is working actively as a voice teacher, professional choir member, and soloist throughout northern Florida. Equally at home in solo or choral repertoire, she is regularly seen onstage with FSU Opera Theater and the Tallahassee Community Chorus, as well as with the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More Octet.

Madison has been a Graduate Teaching Assistant with FSU since 2023, where she teaches private voice lessons. She has taught private voice since 2020, and has held teaching positions with Maize High School, Leon High School, St. John’s Episcopal Church, and Tallahassee Music Academy. She also operates her own private voice studio as well as an alterations business specializing in women’s formal gowns, and greatly enjoys singing for weddings and other private events.

In concert and choral work, Madison has held leadership positions and performed as a featured soloist with the Tallahassee Community Chorus, FSU Symphony Orchestra, FSU Chamber Choir, the Festival Singers of Florida, the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, the WSO Chorale, the Salina Chorale, and the Wichita State University Concert Choir and Madrigals. She has received honors as a finalist in the Hannah Beaulieu competition and the WSU Concerto Aria Competition, and is a Presser Scholar.

Within the opera and musical theatre world, Madison has brought a variety of characters to life. She has performed in shows with Music on Site, Florida State University, Wichita Grand Opera, Wichita State University, Theatre Salina, and Broadway RFD. Most recently she charmed audiences with her sparkling characterization and vocal fireworks as Anne Trulove in Stravinsky’s “The Rake’s Progress” and Vixen Bystrouška in Janáček’s “The Cunning Little Vixen.” She has earned both a Bachelor of Music and a Graduate Certificate from Wichita State University, and a Master of Music from Florida State University.

In 2025 she and Trevor Landreth formed StaccAria, a percussion and soprano duo that performed the world live premiere of “Annabel Lee’ by George Dousis. Since then, the pair have been earnestly working with composers in an effort to expand the repertoire for percussion and voice.

When not onstage, Madison enjoys going on adventures to explore Florida, cooking, creating costumes via leatherworking, sewing, and other crafts, playing DND, contradancing, Victorian Reenactment, and going to Renaissance Festivals.
