Presented by Orlando Sings, the Summer Intensive is a special honor and opportunity for highly-motivated singers in grades 9-12.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS DO

  • Sing in the Youth Choral Artists Summer Honor Choir
  • Prepare for All-State Choir Auditions
  • Develop skills used by professional singers
  • Composing/ Song Writing classes with nationally-known choral artist-teacher Dr. Stuart Chapman Hill!
  • Work with professional artistic staff of Orlando Sings, including Sandra Shafer, Dr. Andrew Minear, and members of professional choir Solaria
  • Select additional topics including Yoga for Singers, Vocal Techniques, Audition Skills, Conducting, and more…
  • Connect with other high school musicians who are passionate about choral music
  • Have FUN!

LOCATION

The Summer Intensive will be held on the campus of All Saints Church (338 E Lyman Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789) on Tuesday June 11 (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) Wednesday June 12 (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM), Thursday June 13 (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM), and Friday June 14 (9:00 AM to 6:30 PM).

REGISTRATION

Singers who are accepted will be expected to register and pay a $295 registration fee.

Stuart Chapman Hill

Guest Artist-Composer-Song Writer

Stuart Chapman Hill, Ph.D., is Director of Music Education and Associate Professor of Music at Webster University in St. Louis, MO, where he teaches courses in music education and songwriting and conducts the treble-voice choir Aurelia. In 2022, he won Webster’s William T. Kemper Award for Excellence in Teaching. He also is Artistic Director of CHARIS, the St. Louis Women’s Chorus, an ensemble devoted to celebrating and encouraging women and the LGBTQIA+ community. For six summers, he was a choral music instructor at the Governor’s School of North Carolina; before moving into higher education, he taught middle school chorus in Greensboro, NC. Dr. Hill is a choral composer and arranger whose works are published with Hinshaw, G. Schirmer, and Galaxy Music. His scholarship in the field of music education appears in the Journal of Research in Music Education, Research Studies in Music Education, and the Philosophy of Music Education Review. He is a co-author, along with Dr. Jill Reese and Dr. Krystal McCoy of Q&A for MLT: Choral Music Perspectives on Music Learning Theory, which was released in 2023 by GIA. Dr. Hill earned his Ph.D. at Michigan State University, where he studied music education and choral conducting. His undergraduate and master’s degrees are from Vanderbilt University.
