Samantha Barnes Daniel
Bio:
Acclaimed soloist, chamber musician and teacher Samantha Barnes Daniel is originally from Orlando, Florida, where she received a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Central Florida. She went on to receive her Master of Music in Vocal Performance & Opera from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. She was also a young artist and trained with companies such as Arizona Opera, Chautauqua Opera and Opera Orlando.
She is a two-time National semi-finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and was a Sarah Tucker Grant Nominee in the Richard Tucker Foundation Competition. Ms. Barnes Daniel performs regularly with Opera Orlando, the Voices of Liberty at EPCOT, the Solaria Singers of Orlando Sings, the Basilica Choir at Mary, Queen of the Universe Shrine, the Villages Philharmonic and Space Coast Symphony. She has also sung with The Orlando Philharmonic, Opera Tampa, Chautauqua Opera, Arizona Opera, and The Illinois Philharmonic, among others.
Recent stage credits include First Lady in The Magic Flute, the Mother in Hansel & Gretel, and Catherine of Aragon in Opera Orlando and Helena’s award winning Orlando Fringe show, 6 of VIII, for which she also wrote the book. Recent concert credits include the soprano soloist in Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610, Schoenberg’s 2nd String Quartet, Mahler’s 2nd & 3rd Symphonies, Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 and the Mozart Requiem. In the next year, she is set to perform the soprano solos in the Brahms and Fauré Requiems, as well as the large choral work, Considering Matthew Shepard.
Ms. Barnes Daniel was an Adjunct Voice Professor at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida from 2018-2023 and is thrilled to now be teaching at her alma mater. She is also an adjunct voice instructor at Harrison School for the Arts in Lakeland, Florida and a founding member of the professional women’s ensemble, Helena.
