Samantha W. Petersen

Bio:

Known for her “remarkable commitment to character” and her “action-star sass”, Samantha W. Petersen is one mezzo-soprano who is not easily forgotten. She made her professional debut with Orlando Opera in 2007, her international debut in 2011, and from 2016 to 2020, performed regularly in Europe. In 2019, she had the pleasure of singing Ruth in Nico Muhly’s Dark Sisters with Opera Fayetteville and also Mercédès in Bizet’s Carmen. In the summer of 2018, she was asked to jump in (with 5 days notice) for the European premiere of Nico Muhly’s Dark Sisters, at Music Academy International, in Italy. In the 2017-2018 season, she performed regularly with Passaggio Oper in Berlin, singing La Voix in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann and Maddalena in Verdi’s Rigoletto. With Choriner Opernsommer, she sang Ludmilla in Smetana’s Die verkaufte Braut and with Sakrale Oper, she sang Mere Jeanne in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites. Since 2020, she has decided to pursue a career as a Speech Language Pathologist and hopes to start school (at FSU) in Fall 2023. This is her second year singing with Solaria.
